There are only a few rules... please try to follow them.

Bay Ridge Community Rules

The few rules of the Bay Ridge community are designed to protect the people and preserve the property of this fragile ribbon of land.

  • Trash Collection: Monday and Thursday (limit four containers per day).
  • Recycling Collection: Monday.
  • Yard Waste Collection: Monday-April through December.
  • Parking: Only off-street parking is allowed in Bay Ridge, no parking or storing of trailers or other vehicles on Bay Ridge Commons. AA County Police will enforce parking violations.
  • Animals: All animals must be under the control of owners. CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG!
  • Private Piers: Owners of piers may not rent the boat slips. Anne Arundel County zoning prohibits rentals.

BEACH FIRES

The rules for fires on our beaches is set in the County Code: Article 14, Title 7, Section 7-204 states that fires are allowed if they are less than one cubic yard (3'x3'x3'). The Air Quality Control Office said that fires that small do not fall under the summer outdoor burning ban. However, please use common sense:

  • DO NOT start a fire if there is a brisk wind, very dry conditions, or a pollution alert.

  • DO select your location carefully away from beach boats and be aware of wind direction so as to protect the fragile ecosystem (grasses, plants, nests etc.).

  • DO minimize smoke; DO NOT burn green wood, treated wood or logs larger than 6 inches in diameter (split them first).

  • DO NOT leave open or smoldering fires unattended; be sure to put them out before you leave the beach.

  • DO leave the beach clean enough for your own kids to play there after the fire.

  • When possible, make a permanent fireplace by making a ring out of rocks away from the main swimming or playing areas so the soot will be kept from the clean sand (there are two such rings on the Mayo beach).

If the police or fire departments ask you to put out a fire, by all means comply, but get the names of the personnel involved and call the BRCA President. He will inform the County Air Quality Control office; they have volunteered to discuss it with the police and fire authorities.
